HEBREWS 13:6 NRSV
6 So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"
Can you imagine how things could improve if God Himself was helping you?
It can happen.
But, to receive God's help you must cooperate with Him.
God is ready, willing, and able to help you. He desires to help you. But the choice is yours.
When you act contrary to God's principles, you stop God from helping you as much as He desires.
To cooperate with God, you must trust Him and walk in faith. You must agree with God and speak in agreement with His Word. And you must walk in love. To do that, constant meditation on God's Word will be required.
You will also need to humble yourself and ask the Lord to help you in everything you do. God does not force His help on you without you requesting His help.
Does this sound too hard? It's not. Just ask the Lord to help you and He will!
ISAIAH 41:10 NIV
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
ROMANS 8:31 NIV
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11 NKJ
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
No matter what it may seem like at times, Jesus Christ is Lord. He is ruler, boss, king: the One ultimately in charge.
He just hasn't exercised His prerogative and taken charge of everything yet.
Jesus is not currently micro-managing everything on earth. He is not responsible for every mistake, accident, and bad thing happening in the world.
God has allowed mankind to "try things our way" so we may see the folly of going our own way in rebellion to God.
But this won't last forever. God has a plan with a limited amount of time allotted for this part of history.
Although God has set certain boundaries, basically human beings are now in control on earth. We are free to choose. Because we are free to choose, we bear the responsibility for the consequences of our chosen actions.
All that is bad in the world today is the result of choices people made. God is not to blame. His only blame is that He allowed us the freedom to choose.
One day Jesus will exercise His authority and put a stop to all evil. Not only that, but He will eliminate the curse and all its effects. He will make all things new, whole, and sound again.
One day everyone will see and acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ. You have that privilege today.
DEUTERONOMY 30:19 NKJ
19 "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
Most people don't realize that God has given them the power to choose whether they will be blessed.
We choose whether to go God's way and be blessed, or ignore God and go our own way and reap the unfortunate consequences.
God has given humans an amazing freedom to make choices. God does not force blessing on us -- we must choose blessing by choosing God and His ways.
God did not create us to be puppets, robots, or slaves. God desires a family He can fellowship with. There would be no joy in being loved by a robot who had no choice, so God created us with the freedom and the right to make choices.
With our right to make choices also came the responsibility to make them. So we must make choices. God does not make our choices for us.
How do we choose life and blessing? By what we choose to think. Our thoughts guide our actions. That is why feeding or meditating on the Word of God is so vital. The thoughts we allow to dominate our consciousness will determine the focus and direction of our life.
We choose whom we will serve. We choose who and what will influence and thus govern our thoughts and actions.
JOSHUA 24:15 NKJ
15 "... choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve .... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
When you make a choice, you need to express it by your words. You need to speak and let the universe know where you stand.
SAY THIS: I choose God. I choose blessing. I choose life. I choose health. I choose prosperity. I choose Jesus Christ as my Lord.
EPHESIANS 6:10 NIV
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
No one can successfully argue against the statement, "You are strong in the Lord." It is a given that if you are in the Lord, you are strong. Nothing that is "in the Lord" could be weak.
So the only real question is whether you are "in the Lord.
I JOHN 5:20 NASB
20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 NIV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
The choice is yours. You choose whether to accept Christ and thus be identified as "in Him." God does no force this, you must choose.
EPHESIANS 2:8-10 NASB
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
From Ephesians 2:8-10 we can see that when we are saved through faith, we are created a new IN Christ Jesus. That is our position. So, anyone and everyone who has received Jesus Christ can be said to be legally "in Him" according to the Scripture.
Always remember that your strength is not in your own ability or resources, but your strength is in the Lord. Depend on Hm. He will never fail you. (He probably will test your patience and maybe even let the situation look hopeless, but He will not ever fail you.)
PSALM 27:1 NKJ
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
HEBREWS 13:5-6 NKJ
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
6 So we ay boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
PSALM 28:8 NIV
8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
SAY THIS: I am strong in the Lord. In the Lord, I am strong, for the Lord is my strength.
Jesus said in John 10.30, "I and the Father are one".
The Lord Jesus is exactly like the Father. He is the full icon of the Father.
Hebrews 1.3, "thus the things He did are indicative of the Father's character.
For Him to have chosen to bring out the best wine at the end rather than at the beginning of middle of the ceremony is very instructive.
(...Everyone else serves the best wine first, and after the guests have drunk a lot he serves the ordinary wine. But you have kept the best wine until now! John 2.10)
This tells us that sometimes, our Lord could reserve the best for last.
Now let's bring this home, the Lord could choose to reserve the blessings and impartation of the Spirit you're meant to receive during a church service till the end of the meeting. Mostly in our various churches, there are 2 groups of people. The first group is those who hardly wait for the service to end before they're gone. As soon as the pastor is done, they're gone, always in a hurry.
The second group of people will come early and stay through till the end of the service. The Word that someone in the first group needs to change his situation may sometimes come right at the end of the service, but he's may be already gone, hence misses his hour of visitation.
You must learn to wait until the service closes when you in to church. The Lord may not always do things the way we expect Him to. It pays to be patient, it's better to discipline yourself to stay in the presence of God, and never be in a hurry to leave, for that's just what your anticipated Word of blessing and miracle may come to you.
Patient is all you need, be at the right place at the right time. That way, you'll never miss out on God's best for you, for He sometimes saves the best for last.
